Year of Gratitude - Day 301 - Yoga

I am grateful that I picked up yoga when I was in grad school. I need to do more of it, but the beauty is that it is always there. This morning, I practiced and while I tried to clear my mind, I could not prevent some tears from coming out. Yet, once I was done with my practice I realized how much it helps and how much I truly needed it. I need to begin taking care of myself again and this, along with my first couple runs this week, are my first steps back to getting well.

Year of Gratitude - Day 198 - Fitbit

My husband bought me a Fitbit today. Much like my iPod did many years ago, this is the device that is going to help me change my life. I am grateful for tools like this, MyFitnessPal and the countless cooking sites I use to change the way I eat and exercise.

Year of Gratitude - Day 160 - Jade Yoga Mat

When I first started practicing yoga, I used whatever crap mat they had at the gym or an old, floppy cheapo mat from Target. One day my buddy, who is a skilled yogi, invited me to her class and she had JadeYoga mats. I'd never been on one before and once I tried a high quality mat, I don't think I'll every be able to go back. Really grateful to have one of these! It has upgraded my yoga experience for sure.

Quick Yoga Tips: Relax or Energize

After putting together a New Years Resolutions display at the library, I came upon this book that made me kind of laugh. It was called: Yoga Secrets for Business Success by Arshan Singh Khalsa. For the time that it spent on the display, no one ever looked at it. I was changing the display (to Mafia and True Crime :) and in the end, I was the patron who checked it out. Strangely enough I found some interesting stuff, but the next two tips were the coolest. I haven't tried them, but the damn book is due and I've renewed it like a million times. Hence, this will be my little place to look back for a reference. Let me know if either technique works for you. I might recommend checking the book out also. It's got a lot of interesting stuff to help you get through the day.
